Happy 2014!

Hi Everyone,

Happy 2014! The holidays are over and it's time to get back our beach bods! First off, we miss you! I know a lot of people have been traveling and spending time with family. I have been out of town almost every weekend it feels like. I'm hoping now that the holidays are over we can all get back on track.

One of the most beneficial things you can do for yourself during 2014 is to make sure you don't let yourself go too long before you get back on an exercise regimen.

If you are afraid that it has been too long since you have been back and I am going to "kill you",( ha ha I hear this one more than any other excuse) I won't. I do not want to see all of your hard work go to waste. Remember, consistency is key when it comes to fitness.

If anyone has any questions or concerns or even suggestions for the new year please feel free to contact me.

Class times are now:

8am

9:30am

4pm

5pm

6pm

and on Monday, Wednesday and Friday we have 3pm for masters and beginners.

I am going to be focusing less on building strength and more on teaching skill movements. Competition/beach season is coming up and we will be adding a skill element to the workouts a few days a week instead of strength.

For anyone who wants to continue with the strength let me know and I will write a separate strength program that you can do during skill training time. I will also increase the cardio aspect of the training a bit, which includes lighter weights. There will be a heaver option for those of you who want it (RX+).

Last but not least, this month is the last chance to get the $89 unlimited price- so tell your friends! Or if you haven't came in a while let me know if you are intending to come back so you can keep that rate. After February 1st, the unlimited price will be going up to $100 a month for new members.

If you are paying now, you are safe at your current rate.

See you soon,
Josh Golden, Coach.

Meet The Owners: Josh & Casey

Last year our Crossfit box was opened. We thought it would be appropriate to introduce me, Josh Golden, and my girlfriend, Casey Hutnick, so you could get to know us a little better.

Casey and I having been doing Crossfit and competing for years. Just this weekend we will be competing in the O.C. Throwdown and we are very excited to compete. We are very devoted to our health and fitness, which was why we were accepted to compete in the O.C. Throwdown. Although we enjoy competing, what would makes us good trainers to help you reach your health/fitness goals?
As for me, I started caring about my health and fitness when I was in my teens. I have done a variety of sports including football, gymnastics, wrestling, break dancing, and strength training. In fact, I even placed 3rd place in my state for a wrestling competition during high school. After high school, I owned and worked with many Crossfit gyms. I have even done personal training with many of my clients. My background has made me a knowledgeable trainer that can give you helpful instruction and help you create the body you desire in no time. All you have to do is show up!
As for Casey, she has been active all her life too and specializes in Olympic weight lifting. Right now she is going to school in San Jose, but comes back frequently to help me with the gym. She has helped many people understand the correct way to lift and prevent injuries. I enjoy having her around and I think you will too!
If you still aren't convinced that we are able to help you, watch us at the O.C. Throwdown. Just click HERE and there is a link to a LIVE feed!
We hope you enjoyed this post and make sure to follow, like, or comment. Casey and I are real people that really want to help people become healthy and strong. We hope our personalities and experience can testify of that. Just come on in and give us a shot!

Member Spotlight: James, Holli, & Savanna

We would like to welcome everyone to our blog and thank you for checking it out! For the first post, we decided to do what we call a "Member Spotlight." That is were we will be asking members from our gym to tell about their experiences and how they are liking our Box. Today you will be hearing from a family that attends our gym (James, Holli, and Savanna). We will now turn the time over to them.

"Crossfit came into our lives at the perfect time. We had been doing workouts at home and long distance running. As a family, we were getting bored and ready for something new. James had been watching videos on YouTube of all the Crossfit competitors. So when he heard of Crossfit Nipomo opening up, he wanted to give it a try.

He started the first class and came home pleading with Holli, his wife, to try it out too! She was hesitant to go due to wondering if she could even complete the workout. After the first class though, she loved it and signed up for a monthly membership. James and Holli both enjoyed going everyday as a couple and working out. They then encouraged me, Savanna (their daughter), to join them. I finally decided to go and fell in love with it from day one! The music is awesome, the members are encouraging, and we love the trainer.

As a family, it has been great to find something we all love to do. It is a constant conversation going on in our house about how many reps we got and what our time was for the day. We can honestly say as a family we have grown closer and stronger because of it.

As a familly we have all seen individual results. For James, he has become stronger and it is a great stress reliever. For Holli, she has lost about 15 pounds and can now lift heavier weights. As for me, I have become more toned, and I have higher energy.

We highly recommend joining Crossfit Nipomo. If your excuse is time, money, or you are just plain scared, we had the same concerns too. Luckily, we didn't let those excuses last for long. We just decided that we were going to find a way to do something we love. We hope you do the same. It has changed our lives. Cheesy, but true."
